Tazarotene is dermatology's most potent topical retinoid, selected when first-line tretinoin isn't enough. It works on deeper wrinkles, texture, and firmness, while niacinamide, Centella asiatica, and ceramides keep your barrier calm through maximum-strength treatment.

Formulation

Maximum strength

Active ingredients:

  • Tazarotene 0.1%
  • Niacinamide 2%

Exact concentrations are determined by a board-certified dermatologist on our clinical team based on your assessment, your tolerance, and your skin's history. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

How & Why It Works
  • Drives faster skin cell turnover to surface fresher skin
  • Softens the look of deeper lines and wrinkles over time
  • Helps even tone and fade the look of discoloration
  • Builds collagen to firm and smooth skin structure
  • Supports the skin barrier so treatment stays comfortable at maximum strength
  • Compounded by a licensed pharmacy for each prescription

As with any prescription retinoid, some people notice mild, temporary effects as their skin adjusts to treatment. With a maximum-strength retinoid like tazarotene, this adjustment period can feel sharper than it does with first-line tretinoin, and it typically settles within the first few weeks.

Common adjustment effects can include dryness, peeling, itching, or redness. Applying a moisturizer helps soothe irritation, and most people find their skin settles as treatment continues. A board-certified dermatologist on our clinical team reviews your case and sets a formulation appropriate for your skin.

How to Use

At night, apply a thin, pea-sized layer to clean, dry skin, 20 to 30 minutes after washing. That amount covers the whole face. More won't work faster, it will only irritate.

Ramp up gradually: every third night for two weeks, every other night in weeks 3 and 4, then nightly as your skin tolerates it. The dermatologist on your clinical team sets and adjusts your plan. Advanced needs a slower start than Core.

Follow with a barrier-supporting moisturizer.

Every morning, wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher. Tazarotene makes skin significantly more sun-sensitive than first-line retinoids, and that lasts for weeks after stopping.

Do not use if you are pregnant, may become pregnant, trying to conceive, or breastfeeding. Tazarotene is FDA Pregnancy Category X and can cause birth defects. Effective contraception is required during treatment. If you become pregnant, stop use and contact your DermClick care team.

The medicine behind your prescription is built by the doctors you already follow.

Woman applying anti-aging cream to her face

Built for skin that's past the fine-line stage.

Deeper wrinkles, visible photoaging, loss of firmness that first-line retinoids haven't touched.

The Advanced Anti-Aging Solution Rx is our maximum-strength prescription anti-aging formula. Tazarotene and niacinamide work together as co-actives, supporting texture, tone, and firmness, while Centella asiatica and ceramides keep your barrier intact through the more intense adjustment period.

Ideal for you if you're

  • Dealing with deeper wrinkles, loss of firmness, or visible photoaging

  • You've been on prescription tretinoin and plateaued, or stopped seeing results

  • Watching texture changes, sun damage, or sagging develop alongside the lines

  • Looking for stronger results than first-line prescription anti-aging can deliver

  • Familiar with prescription retinoids and able to tolerate a maximum-strength formulation, as confirmed during your assessment

Consider a different fit if you're:

  • New to prescription retinoids. The Anti-Aging SolutionRx (Core) is the better starting point and steps up cleanly if needed

  • Pregnant, nursing, or trying to conceive. Tazarotene is FDA Pregnancy Category X and is contraindicated; your assessment will route you to a safer option

  • Currently fighting active breakouts alongside aging. The Advanced Acne FormulaRx is built for that

  • Primarily dealing with melasma or persistent pigmentation. The Brightening SolutionRx is built for that

  • Already on isotretinoin (Accutane), or finished a course within the past 6 months. We'll need to space your treatment appropriately

What our customers are saying.

Realistic timeline

What you may see in 6–12 weeks.

Maximum-strength prescription anti-aging isn't a one-week fix — and the concerns you're addressing took years to develop. Real results take time. They also hold. Here's what most people experience.

Results vary. Timelines depend on your starting skin, your formula strength, and how consistently you apply your treatment.

1

Weeks 1–2

Adjustment

Your skin gets used to the prescription. Moderate dryness, peeling, or temporary sensitivity is common. With tazarotene-strength actives, the adjustment can feel sharper than first-line tretinoin. This is the medication doing its job.
2

Weeks 3–6

Calming

The adjustment settles. Your skin texture starts to feel smoother. Tone begins to look more uniform. This is the point most people feel the shift.
3

Weeks 7–12

Visible smoothing and firming

Deeper lines look softer. Photoaging looks less pronounced. Skin starts to look smoother and more renewed. The kind of result first-line retinoids plateau before delivering.
4

Beyond 12 weeks

Maintenance and collagen building

Tazarotene's long-term work, collagen building, sustained smoothness, sustained firmness, compounds over months and years. Your DermClick care team checks in and adjusts your formula as your skin evolves.

Results vary. Timelines depend on your starting skin, your formula strength, and how consistently you apply your treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I start with The Anti-Aging Solutionᴿˣ or step up to the Advanced version?

The Anti-Aging Solutionᴿˣ is our first-line prescription formula, built around tretinoin, ideal for fine lines, early texture changes, and dullness. The Advanced Anti-Aging Solutionᴿˣ is the maximum-strength tier, built around tazarotene, a next-generation retinoid stronger than tretinoin, formulated for deeper wrinkles, loss of firmness, and visible photoaging that hasn't responded to first-line treatment. If you're not sure, take the assessment. A board-certified dermatologist on your care team will tell you which one matches where your skin actually is, not where you think it should be.

How is tazarotene different from tretinoin?

Tazarotene is a next-generation prescription retinoid that's typically more potent than tretinoin and is used when deeper texture, tone, and firmness concerns need stronger support. That power comes with a sharper adjustment period: more dryness, more peeling, more sensitivity, especially in the first 4 to 8 weeks. That's why the Advanced formula includes ceramides and Centella asiatica for barrier support — they make tazarotene livable. If your skin has plateaued on tretinoin, this is typically the next step.

Will I 'purge' on tazarotene if I don't have acne?

If you don't have active breakouts, you typically won't experience a breakout-style purge. What you may experience instead is a more pronounced adjustment period than with first-line tretinoin: moderate dryness, peeling, or sensitivity for 2 to 8 weeks as your skin acclimates to the higher-strength active. The ceramides and Centella asiatica in the formula are included specifically to keep this phase manageable. If it gets uncomfortable, message us and we'll adjust your ramp-up or your formula.

Can I use this with my current skincare routine, or do I have to start over?

Most of your routine can stay. Gentle cleansers, hydrating serums, broad-spectrum SPF (non-negotiable on tazarotene), and barrier-supporting moisturizers all pair well with The Advanced Anti-Aging Solutionᴿˣ. What you should pause: other topical retinoids (tretinoin, adapalene, additional tazarotene, retinol), strong exfoliants like glycolic acid or salicylic acid at high concentrations, vitamin C serums at night (use them in the morning instead), and physical scrubs. A board-certified dermatologist on your care team will review your current products during your assessment and tell you exactly what to keep, what to drop, and what to add.

Is The Advanced Anti-Aging Solutionᴿˣ safe with pregnancy, nursing, or other medications?

The assessment specifically asks. The Advanced Anti-Aging Solutionᴿˣ contains tazarotene, which is FDA Pregnancy Category X — it is contraindicated during pregnancy due to risk of birth defects, and effective contraception is required during treatment for anyone who could become pregnant. It is also not recommended while nursing. If any of these apply to you, a board-certified dermatologist on your care team will route you to a safer alternative. If we can't safely prescribe for you, we'll tell you before charging you. We don't write prescriptions that shouldn't be written.

When will I see results?

Most people start noticing a real shift between weeks 8 and 12 with consistent nightly use. Here's roughly what to expect: weeks 1–2 are the adjustment period. Weeks 3–6, your texture starts to smooth and your tone begins to even out. Weeks 6–12, deeper lines look softer and your skin looks firmer. Beyond 12 weeks, the collagen-building and sun-damage-correcting work compounds over months and years. Maximum-strength treatment is steady, not dramatic — but the results hold, and they're the strongest thing in topical anti-aging short of in-office procedures.

Where can I find the full safety information?

The Advanced Anti-Aging Solutionᴿˣ is a prescription tazarotene treatment, so it carries important safety information you should read before starting, covering who should not use it, pregnancy warnings, possible side effects, and how to use it. You can read the full Important Safety Information here. If you have questions about your own case, message your DermClick care team.

The Advanced Anti-Aging Solution Rx is our maximum-strength anti-aging formula, built for deeper lines, visible photoaging, and skin that's plateaued on first-line treatment. If you're earlier in treating the signs of aging, The Anti-Aging SolutionRx is the starting point, with a clear step-up path when you're ready. And if sun damage and uneven tone are part of your picture alongside the lines, The Brightening SolutionRx is built to pair with it. Your assessment routes you to what fits — and tells you what works together.
